[UPDATE 2] Teo En Ming’s Guide on Installing and Configuring Sophos Firewall (Linux-Based) with Wi-Fi Wireless Access Points in Separate DMZ Zone
Subject: [UPDATE 2] Teo En Ming’s Guide on Installing and Configuring Sophos Firewall (Linux-Based) with Wi-Fi Wireless Access Points in Separate DMZ Zone
Good day from Singapore,
I have recently completed installing and configuring Sophos Firewall on my SGD$222 Intel Celeron J3160 hardware appliance on 2nd Dec 2023 Saturday at 2359 hours Singapore Time. I have placed my tp-link EX510 wireless access point in a separate DMZ zone, completely separated from the main LAN zone. I know Sophos Firewall is definitely based on Linux but I do not know which Linux distro it is based on. When I run the Linux command “cat /etc/lsb-release”, the output is
DISTRIB_ID=Sophos Firewall
Hence the actual underlying Linux distro is unknown. But of course Sophos could probably have modified Debian Linux for their own use, given Debian’s popularity among Linux users in the world.
I have also compiled a 145-page PDF guide based on vivo V25 Pro 5G mobile phone screenshots if you are interested.

Please let me know if there are any mistakes in my Sophos Firewall configuration. I am still very much a newbie with regards to Sophos Firewall.
My installation and configuration guide is based on Sophos Firewall SFOS version 20.0.0 GA-Build222, which is the latest firewall release.
Thank you very much.
