Has my Windows 11 home desktop computer been hacked by Advanced Persistent Threats (APT) hackers?

Subject: Has my Windows 11 home desktop computer been hacked by Advanced Persistent Threats (APT) hackers?

Good day from Singapore,

Today 28 Sep 2025 Sunday, I discovered that some file associations on my Windows 11 home desktop computer have been lost.

When I try to open a JPG file, I need to choose the correct program to open it again.

When I try to open a MP4 file, I need to choose the correct program to open it again.

I do not know what other file associations are not working at the moment.

Has my Windows 11 home desktop computer been hacked and compromised by Advanced Persistent Threats (APT) hackers?

Or do you think it could be an issue resulting from some problematic Windows updates?

Please advise.

Thank you.
